John Lear is founder and owner of OOMBA Security LLC.  He has over 18 years of experience in Information Technology and Computer Security.  He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), one of the top ten best certifications to have in IT and Security.  He also holds a Masters degree in Telecommunications (MTEL ‘99) from the prestigious University of Denver.  John has gained his extensive experience in computers starting out in the United States Air Force in the 1980’s.  Recognizing the significant impact computers would have on society John was honorably discharged and began work in technical support in the 1990’s.  His first civilian job was for a database report writing company in Denver, CO.  Since then John has gained a wealth of experience from 11 different companies such as Sun Microsystems, University of Colorado and the Department of the Interior.  John has enterprise level, production experience from A to Z in Access control to mitigating zero-day vulnerabilities.  He has worked for multi-billion dollar companies and small community colleges.  John has deep experience in what works well in IT and what doesn’t work so well.  John has led the way implementing business continuity and building in-disaster recovery with every application and server he has worked with.  John is an expert in locking down systems software to be more resilient to modern day attacks.  He has written code to monitor and check for systems compliance.  John has worked with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards for over ten years.  Knowing most small and medium-sized businesses don’t have the time or the expertise to tackle such complex things as compliance, system monitoring and security he decided in 2010 to launch a project.  With the inspiration of his son he began laying the foundation for OOMBA Security LLC.  OOMBA is a small business helping other small to medium-sized businesses manage their IT needs and requirements.  John works with only one company at a time so he can fully concentrate his efforts on affordable solutions that are custom fit for the business.  John’s work is his calling.  He feels strongly that end-point security is a major contributor to National Security.  It doesn’t matter what operating system or applications your business runs on, John is able to help make them more secure.  He provides a free system assessment to help owners prioritize findings.  John is then able to help the customer immediately or connect them with other experts in the field if they choose to implement a hardware-based solution.  John lives and works in the Denver Metro area.  He is available by phone, online or in person to simplify and secure your business today!
